Book Sale

Ever wonder where you can get the cheapest
books for your classes? Have problems packing at the end of the
semester with all those old
textbooks you're never going to use again? We've got the
solution for you: Lock and Chain Booksale. Our booksale has
been around for years, and it is the well-known, trusted way to find
cheap books and to get the most money for your old books.
So how does it work? At the conclusion of each semester, usually during reading week, Lock and Chain members collect books for the sale at the beginning of the following semester. We table in Wohl and Mallinkrodt and sweep the dorms in order to pick up books. When students turn a book into Lock and Chain, they are required to fill out a registration form and sign our disclaimer, indicating they understand the process. We store the books during the break, and then put them up for sale at the start of the next semsester.
So why do we do this each semester? Because our booksale allows
students to set their own selling prices, it gives them an opportunity
to make more than the bookstore would give them for their used books.
We offer some of the cheapest
prices available, and we donate 5% of all sales to a local charity. As
our only fundraiser, Lock and Chain also benefits from the sale.
So now you ask, what if my books don't sell? Simple. In the case that one or all of your books do not sell, we return them to you, at no cost. Students will be emailed at the conclusion of the sale to inform them as to whether or not their books were purchased. If they were, a check will be sent for 75% of the asking price by the end of the semester. If they did not sell, students will be asked to pick up their books; they are free to do with them as they please at that time (it is still possible the bookstore will accept them). If books are not picked up during the designated hours or other arrangements made, the books are automatically donated to Lock and Chain.
